Smolansky: «Maduro doesn’t care if Venezuela ends up empty»

The coordinator of the Organization of American States (OAS) for the Venezuelan migrant and refugee crisis, David Smolansky, called on Thursday to help the international community to end the usurpation of the Nicolás Maduro regime.

«I don’t want to keep saying that there is a tyranny in Venezuela,» Smolansky said during a press conference held at the Venezuelan consulate in the United States, the first act that has been taken since it was taken by the delegation of the president in charge Juan Guaidó.

«Maduro doesn’t care if Venezuela ends up empty,» he lamented. While alerting that by 2020 the number of Venezuelan refugees can reach eight million if there is no change in the country.

Despite the financial assistance they have received from the international community, Smolansky explained that more support is needed, because «Venezuelan refugees are worth 50 times less than a Syrian refugee.»
