The deputy of the National Assembly (AN), Robert Alcalá denounced on Monday the robbery suffered by 14 people who participated in the first Sucre 42K International Marathon in the city of Cumaná, an event organized by the regional government.
Alcalá informed through his Twitter account (@robertalcalasu) that the marathon participants were left barefoot because of the same insecurity that the Nicolás Maduro regime claims to have «controlled.»
«Fortunately they managed to have breakfast at the Hotel Los Bordones,» said Alcalá.
In that sense, the parliamentarian said that the event on Sunday August 25 left a bad image of the Sucre state and apologized to the visitors who participated.
«It was the naked situation of insecurity and lack of seriousness of the organizers,» he said
More than 2,000 local, national and international runners gathered this Sunday in Sucre state to measure their performance and talent in this sporting event endorsed by the Venezuelan Olympic Committee.
The governor of the Sucre state, Edwin Rojas, congratulated the athletes enrolled in this competition, but made no reference to the 14 people who were victims of the underworld.
